Winter boat mooring on the Alicante coast — a marina-by-marina guide

3 min read

If you're looking specifically for winter boat mooring in Alicante and the surrounding coast, the good news is there's real choice — and most years there's availability if you ask before September. This is a practical, marina-by-marina rundown for absentee owners deciding where to leave a yacht through the Costa Blanca winter.

What "winter berth" actually means here

Most Costa Blanca marinas offer one of three winter arrangements:

  1. Six-month winter contract (typically October–April) at a discounted rate compared to summer monthlies.
  2. Annual berth with a winter discount if you commit early.
  3. Hard-standing on the yard with lift-out and re-launch, often the cheapest option.

Prices below are rough bands for a 12m yacht in 2026; always quote your exact LOA and beam.

Northern Alicante coast

Dénia

Large, well-equipped marina with good lift facilities. Winter berths usually available. Reasonable shelter; some exposure on east-southeast Levantes. Dénia–Alicante airport is 75 minutes by car. Afloat €2,400–€3,200 / hard €1,800–€2,400 for the winter.

Jávea / Xàbia

Smaller, popular with northern European owners. Winter berths fill earlier than larger marinas; ask by August. Good shelter from the headland. Afloat €2,200–€3,000.

Moraira

Premium, small, hard to get into year-round. If you have a berth here, keep it. Otherwise look elsewhere for winter.

Calpe (Puerto Blanco)

Mid-sized, decent winter availability, exposed on northeasterlies. Afloat €1,800–€2,600.

Altea (Campomanes / Luis Campomanes)

Sheltered, well-run, popular with liveaboards through winter. Afloat €2,000–€2,800.

Alicante city and immediate area

Marina Alicante (city centre)

Excellent shelter, full services, easy airport access (25 minutes). Higher prices reflect the location. Worth it if you're flying in regularly. Afloat €2,600–€3,400. See our Alicante marina guide.

Marina Greenwich (El Campello)

Just north of Alicante. Quieter, generally cheaper, very good shelter. Afloat €1,800–€2,500.

Santa Pola

South of Alicante, busy fishing/yacht harbour with good yard facilities. Strong choice for hard-standing. Afloat €1,600–€2,300 / hard €1,400–€2,000. Santa Pola guide.

Southern Alicante coast

Guardamar (Marina de las Dunas)

Inland river marina — exceptional storm shelter, the most protected option on the coast. Limited depth for deeper-draft yachts. Afloat €1,500–€2,200. Guardamar guide.

Torrevieja — Marina Salinas

Modern, sheltered, popular winter destination. Good airport access and easy to walk to town. Afloat €1,800–€2,500. Marina Salinas guide.

Torrevieja — Club Náutico

Long-established yacht club, slightly cheaper than the newer marinas. Afloat €1,500–€2,200. Club Náutico Torrevieja guide.

Torrevieja — Marina Internacional

Largest of the Torrevieja marinas, good yard facilities. Afloat €1,600–€2,400 / hard €1,400–€2,000. Marina Internacional guide.

How to choose

A short decision tree:

  • Storm shelter is your top concern: Guardamar, Marina Alicante, Altea Campomanes.
  • Cheapest viable option: Club Náutico Torrevieja, Marina Greenwich, Santa Pola hard-standing.
  • Easy airport access for frequent visits: anything between Campello and Guardamar — all under 45 minutes from Alicante airport.
  • You want to actually use the boat on winter weekends: afloat, near a town with restaurants open in January (Alicante, Altea, Dénia, Torrevieja).

Things to confirm with the marina before paying

  • Is the winter rate inclusive of water and electricity, or metered?
  • What's the policy if you want to launch for a weekend mid-winter (for hard-standing)?
  • Do they have on-site lift / yard staff over Christmas and New Year?
  • Are external contractors (caretakers, riggers, engineers) allowed without an escort fee?

That last one matters a lot — some marinas now charge a daily access fee for any external trade, which can quietly add €200+ to a winter caretaking arrangement.
